See De usu p. 3.259.1 (May 1968, p. 199), where Galen says that the sartorius muscle raises the tibia obliquely, and De anat. adm. 2.326.9 (Singer 1956, p. 53), where he says that a popliteal muscle and its ligament draw back the tibia “with a slight outward swerve.”
