See In Hippocratis librum de articulis et Galeni in eum commentarii 18a.493.5-11: “I have precisely stated the entire composition of the vertebrae in my introductory book On the Bones (in which I have recommended that one following these commentaries be trained) having precisely examined the character of each of the bones, especially those of human skeletons, or otherwise by all means those of apes.” Cf. 425.5; in 548.6 he states that apes resemble humans in the disposition (qe/sij) of their bones.
