Glh/nh is a Homeric word for eyeball; in Galen De ossibus 2.736.15 it has its derived sense, a bone socket less deep than an acetabulum. “The kotu/lh (acetabulum) is as much deeper than the glh/nh (glenoid cavity) as the head of a bone is more prominent than a condyle.” ( De motu musculorum 4.410.9f.).
