Orig. “sea-bird” or “crow,” this word is used for any hooked or coronoid process, such as that of the ulna (Hippocrates De articulis 18.5; Galen De usu partium 3.142-147) and the mandible (Hippocrates op. cit. 30.6, 31; Galen op. cit. 3.843-859). The 1555 edition omits mention of the Greek name.
